ICBCS Masjid Expansion Project

Islamic Community of Bryan-College Station (ICBCS) is in urgent need of your donations to purchase land adjacent to its existing masjid. This 30,000 sq-ft land has recently become available for sale and presents a golden opportunity for expanding the masjid to meet growing needs of the Muslim community in Bryan-College Station. The owner’s asking price is currently around $700,000 and negotiations are underway. Due to recent purchases and developments in the surrounding areas, there are not many alternatives for expanding the masjid to meet demands of our growing population.

The masjid expansion project will be completed in two phases, insha’Allah.

  • Phase 1: Purchase additional land for expansion
  • Phase 2: Build facilities on the purchased land to expand the masjid

We are currently in Phase 1 of the project and need your generous donations for the sake of Allah. The Prophet (saw) said, “Whoever builds a masjid for the sake of Allah, Allah will build for him a house in Jannah.”

Please donate generously online or by mailing us your pledge form.

The Start

The Islamic community in Bryan and College Station has grown steadily over the last three decades. The community started with a small group of Muslim students attending the Texas A&M University. In 1979, these students formed the first Muslim Students' Association (MSA) of the university. Since then the Muslim population has grown to include students, faculty, businessmen, and other professionals and their families. In 1995, a Masjid was built to serve the needs of the fast growing local Muslim community. Over the years, the Masjid has been a vibrant center of Islamic activity, including daily prayers, seminars and lectures, youth and adult programs, as well as Dawa'h and outreach programs for non-Muslims.

Situation Today

Due to the increasing Muslim population, our Masjid is in serious need of expanding some of the basic facilities. We are starting to lack in adequate space for prayers (especially during Jummah and Ramadan), space for special activities (such as weekend Islamic school, iftars, social activities, library, etc.), and sufficient restroom and wudu facilities. Furthermore, the chronic parking problem has worsened considerably and has become a source of continuous complaint from our neighbors.

Future Plans

Expansion of our Masjid is vital for the growth and success of our Muslim community. Alhamdulillah, a piece of land directly adjacent to our Masjid is currently available for sale. All other properties around the existing structure have either been sold or are not available. If we let this rare opportunity pass, our Masjid will be unable to expand and meet the needs of our growing community. Your generous donation is much needed and will be greatly appreciated by your brothers and sisters in Bryan-College Station. May Allah reward you for taking an active part in this great cause.

Once the land has been purchased insha’Allah, we will proceed with Phase 2 of the expansion, which will have the following objectives (insha’Allah):

  • Enlarge the prayer areas
  • Enlarge the parking space
  • Provide activity rooms for weekend Islamic school, social programs and activities such as workshops, iftars, youth programs, etc.
  • Enlarge wudu, restroom, and kitchen facilities
  • Build a few apartments to rent out and generate continuous income for the Masjid
