History and Community
In the 1980s, Muslims at Texas A&M University established the first Muslim Students Association (MSA). In February 1988, the MSA chapter was evolved into the Islamic Community of Bryan/College Station (ICBCS). Since then ICBCS has been the official representative of Muslims living in the Bryan/College Station area. ICBCS aims to fulfill the needs of Muslims in the Bryan/College Station area, while also fostering harmony and engaging with the larger non-Muslim community by sharing knowledge and understanding of Islam and Muslims.
ICBCS is an incorporated 501(c)3 charitable organization. Our Bylaws conform to Qur’an and Sunnah (i.e. the tradition of the Messenger Muhammad peace be upon him), and the consensus of scholars of Ahl-as-Sunna wal-Jama’a (the mainstream and the overwhelming majority of Muslims throughout history).
Our Facilities
Our main office is the Islamic Center located at 417 Stasney Street in College Station. This center is a purpose-built facility consisting of prayer halls for brothers and sisters (the Masjid), office rooms, a conference room, and a small library for kids. The adjacent Muslim Student Center consists of a half-court basketball gym, kitchen, general study space, and lounge rooms separate for brothers and sisters.
