Haven’t paid your Zakat al-Fitr yet?
ICBCS is no longer collecting Zakat al-Fitr. Zakat al-Fitr is required for every self-supporting Muslim who has food beyond their needs, on behalf of themselves and their dependents. It is $10 per member in the family, including children. You can donate online to any reputable Muslim charity. Please try your best to pay it before the prayer.
JazakAllah Khair!
Taraweeh will begin tonight, February 28 after Isha at 8:00 PM. In sha Allah, tomorrow, March 1 will be the first day of fasting in Ramadan. Please read the following carefully:
- Safety of our children
- One of our top priorities is to keep our children safe.
- Children under 4 must be with a parent (not outside the view of their parent).
- Babysitting will be provided for children 4-7 in the upstairs sisters musallah (on your right side).
- Boys above 7 should be with their fathers and girls above 7 should be with their mothers.
- Parking
- Use metered parking through ParkMobile or College Main Parking Garage (5 min walk).
- From Sat. March 1, we will provide a FREE shuttle service through American Express Cab starting 30 min before iftar, 15 min before taraweeh, until 15 min after taraweeh.
- If you are young and healthy, please practice ‘ithaar’ and let others park closer to masjid.
- The inside parking lot will be reserved for (i) people with disabilities, (ii) elderly who have difficulty walking, and (iii) families with infants.
- Please reverse park in masjid parking lot for safety. Also, watch out for little kids running around.
- Do not park in the apartment complex across masjid, even if it says visitor parking.
- Use metered parking through ParkMobile or College Main Parking Garage (5 min walk).
- Iftars
- Only limited days remain open to sponsor. You can contribute for full or partial iftar using this link: bit.ly/icbcsiftar2025
- PLEASE do not donate anything for iftars such as dates, water etc. Everything is covered, and the only thing we are accepting at this point is cash donations for days not covered.
- Please be considerate, especially to staff and volunteers. Practice “ithar” preferring others over yourself, especially when breaking your fast.
Zakat al-Fitr is the special obligatory alms paid by all Muslims at the end of the Ramadan fasting month. This year it is $10/person in the family. If you’d like to pay your Zakat al-Fitr through ICBCS, please pay using this link (icbcs.org/zakat-fitr) by Friday, March 28 , Isha (9:15 PM). Any donations to our page after this deadline will not be guaranteed distribution.
If you haven’t paid your zakat by then, you can pay your zakat through relief organizations such as Zakat Foundation or any other charity.

- We are planning to finish taraweeh and witr within 1 hour of Isha Iqaamah in shaAllah.
- Each day, imams will recite from approximately the beginning of each juz to 8 pages. We encourage community members to complete the remaining 12 pages on their own or join with others in a Qur’an reading circle.
Babysitting will be available for children ages 4-7 in the Upstairs Sisters Musallah.
Children under 4 or older than 7 should be with a parent.
We aim to have iftar every day of Ramadan. There are a few spots needing to be sponsored to hit our daily iftar goal. If you’d like to sponsor iftar this month, please visit this sign up sheet for more details. bit.ly/icbcsiftar2025
If you would like to donate any amount to be spent for iftar for any days not covered, please make a one-time donation to icbcs.org/donate and include in the memo “for Iftar sponsorship” or visit the link above and follow the description.
Be considerate:
- Follow the rules.
- Avoid talking loudly when the taraweeh prayer is going on.
- Ensure your cell phones are off or on silent mode.
- In sha Allah, there will be plenty food to go round – remember the principle of “ithar” (giving preference to others).
- Staff and volunteers are doing their best so if you have a concern, please express it gently and they will try to address it.
Safety:
- Sisters should avoid walking alone after taraweeh or before qiyam prayers. Either try to get rides with families or at least be in groups.
- Everyone needs to watch out for any unusual behavior of strangers.
